Im going to start learning Saxophone and i kinda need some help?

Lots of people said its really hard to learn sax almost impossible +
waste of time, I really like it and im gona do it anyway but i just
wana know how much time would i spend on it per week ( as time to
learn with a trainer) and how much time i need to be good at it , 2nd
thing i checked some forums and almost all said i should start with an
alto but still i wana ask is an alto suitable for a start or not? if
yes which mention 1-2 types i could get.
